Hickory House in Lamar

I had the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans, loved them! My husband had the hickory burger and he was very happy with that as well. Would definitely go back if we ever drive this way again!

Good food - good service

Friendly service. The prices were higher than expected at $12 for plates and $22 & up for steaks. We got enchiladas which were not very flavorful but were spicy. It was an OK lunch.

I don't get what keeps this place in favor. The food was mediocre, but we thought the prices for breakfast were too high. Three people for breakfast was $45. It's Lamar CO. One wouldn't expect big city prices. Even in the city, it would be expensive. The steak was tough and dry. The service was marginal as well. We had to ask for straws and condiments about three times. When we finally got it, we were nearly done eating. No more for me on this place.

Place is nice and clean. The people treat you with respect. The food is good, they serve a variety of food. Portions are reasonable. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. The prices are reasonable. Just a nice country cafe

It's food and you can eat it. I like the atmosphere and the fact that it's family owned. You should eat here.

Excited to be the 500th review! Congratulations hickory house! This spot was a hidden gem on the way back to Denver. I always ask for the best this time I asked for two of the best and both hit the spot. Service was great. Price was right. Highly recommend!

I always enjoy going to Hickory House, the food is excellent most of the time and the wait staff are always courteous and on top of things.

This is the place that reminds you of breakfast with grandma and grandpa. Very nice people and very clean restaurant. Food was delicious! They know how to make an omelet for sure ! We will be back as much as possible!

Why does this place have 4 1/2 stars??? My kid like the (Kraft) Mac n cheese. My Club sandwich was ok, can’t go wrong making a sandwich ( I think the meat was Oscar Mayer). The Smothered sandwich was a hamburger with a jar of green Chile sauce and cheese poured on top. Seriously, save the money and go to BK or the Sonic next door.

Nice southern place where the people are friendly. I had the split pea soup for lunch. It was my first time trying split pea soup but it was worth it. My coworker had the chicken avocado wrap and said that it was one of the best that she'd had. I would definitely recommend this place.

place was ok.....but the ham and cheese was burnt....when asked by the waitress and hostess how everything was ...we told them ot was burnt and their reply was that's the way it always was....hmmmm

Everything here was awesome, service was good, and the restrooms are handicap accessible. The bathroom was a bit dirty.Plenty of handicap parking.

Famous salad bar closed for covid 19. But they made me an awsome chef's salad tonight. Great comfort food and good Mexican. Running smaller menu as of 6/18/20

Amazing Customer service and great food!

Good comfort food. The wait staff was very helpful, and were helpful in adjusting the order to accommodate our needs. It's a nice place to stop in at when traveling from one city to another. They have a small salad bar. The salad was crisp.

We stopped here on the way through because it had a 4.5 star rating, but it shouldn’t! The service was terrible, I don’t think anything served was homemade, and the prices are outrageous for the quality of food. My husbands hamburger looked like it came from the $10 box of frozen patties you can buy at Wal-Mart and the cheese on top looked like a slice of plastic! We ordered a coke with no ice and an ice water, but she brought us two tap waters with no ice. When we asked for ice for the water our waitress had to stop and talk to whoever was in the restaurant before bring us out ice. We also had to ask for mayonnaise, even though we ordered it with the burger, and were given two packets of mayo for the $10 burger! Also, the place is clean but there is no music playing so we had to listen to the staffs expletive filled conversations. 0/10 would not recommend this place! We would have been better off with DQ or Taco John’s!

I got the hickory steak burger the crunch on that burger was real! the crispy bun and crispy onion tied together so well to make the perfect crunch. The tomato added just the perfect answer amount of juiciness to the well cooked crisp steak patty witch created a flavor blast on my taste buds.Oh and the service was great!

Hidden Gem!! How many times have I driven past this place?? I recently stopped to eat here with my family as we were returning to Kansas from visiting Colorado. We had the beautiful Dolores at our table immediately with a fantastic smile and friendly service. The food was wonderfully cooked with large portions (they fill your plate so be prepared!), clean cafe, clean restrooms, and the atmosphere was open, well lit, and had a fresh and clean smell. To top it off the pies are homemade with that old fashioned crust like grandma used to make!! I can't believe I am just now finding out about this place but am so pleased that I did! Thank you Hickory House for reminding me what "home made" tastes like and thank you, Dolores for being such wonderful waitress for us during our visit there. We look forward to returning soon!

Wonderful Experience! We stopped for lunch on the beginning leg of our trip and scheduled our return trip back through for dinner several days later. Homemade Noodles, hand breaded chicken strips, blt, & a club the whole family was happy!!!

Clean restaurant with friendly staff. Many traditional cafe-style offerings at moderate prices. The chicken fried steak had some of the best homemade gravy I’ve eaten in years. Locals love the breakfast offerings.
